Additional Information

There was a public vote to choose Almaz’s name.  His name translates as “Diamond” in English.

In April 2020 Almaz weighed 18 kg, a month later in May he tipped the scales at 30 kg.

Since 2014, the care of 35 polar bears in Russian zoos has been financed by Russian oil company  Rosneft.
