History of captivity:
- Captured in Churchill, Manitoba November 2017
- Flown to the Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Centre, part of the Assiniboine Park Zoo and arrived on 6 December 2017
Willow’s name was chosen through an online poll.
Apparently orphaned, Willow was found wandering alone just to the west Of Churchill on the edge of Hudson Bay. She was flown to Assiniboine Park with Baffin, an unrelated cub captured around the same time. Their transfer to Winnipeg caused controversy in Churchill.
